While not every puzzle is a home run, especially as some solutions are a bit obtuse for their own good, Dual Effect and Abstract Digital nonetheless have put together a fairly well-woven love letter to the survival horror games of the past.Īs Caroline Walker, the story that follows is one that dives a lot into cult rituals and summoning one that involves the use of twins in order to fulfill a long-standing prophecy.
TORMENTED SOULS GENERATOR PUZZLE SERIES
As you explore the Wildberger Hospital, you’ll encounter darkly lit rooms, puzzle-centric doors, and various other means to progress through a series of odd and complex items. While Tormented Souls certainly looks to pull more from the original Resident Evil than that of the others, their inspirations are nonetheless everywhere you see. Now, I mentioned Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Alone in the Dark for a reason. While Tormented Souls certainly looks to pull from several games of the past, it often brings several outdated elements along for the ride. While some have shamelessly copied them almost entirely, others have adapted them alongside new mechanics and gameplay systems to create something new. These games, among several others, have often be replicated in some form or fashion by new studios looking to create something from those inspirations. Again this one is a little tricky to explain so I've taken a screenshot. The survival horror genre has seen a wealth of influential titles such as Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Alone in the Dark. Interact with the big valve board at the back, you’ll need to attach the three Valve Caps you found on your way here and turn the other valves to get the pipes working. Go on through the door in here to find yourself back in the Bunker Stairs, unlock the gate and head back up the stairs, through the door to the left of the spike trap to Bunker 2A, then left into Bunker 1-2B. There’s also a First Aid Kit (Relief 6 of 5) in the cabinet to your right, and Nails at the end of the corridor. There are two Walkers in here that you’ll need to get past.

Once you have that, head back through the cells the way you came in, out the circular door and down to the other end of the corridor into Bunker 3A.

Head through the second cell on the left, through a hole in the wall and up the stairs at the back to find a Gas Canister to the left. There are some Shotgun Shells in the alcove to your immediate right when you enter, there’s an Electrical Lance Charge in the first cell to the left. Watch for the Hammer in here, you’ll be going in some cells for items so it’s easy to get yourself boxed in. Head down the other way now to the left, up past a Walker and through a circular door to the Prison. You’ll find some Nails to your right, then take a left at the spike trap to find Bertram’s Diary 07 (Redemption 8 of 8), yay last collectable! Oh, that noise you heard? That was your two friends waking up, they're mad you're stealing their stuff! Go behind where they were standing and into the door at the back. There are two Hammers in here but they won’t wake up just yet so head around the room to the back right to find Shotgun Shells to the left of some beds and a Pipe Cap to the right. Head further down the stairs and into Bunker 3B. Bertram’s Diary 05 (Redemption 7 of 8) is near where you start, almost done with collectables! There’s also Morphine next to a spike trap, be careful, they hurt. Go back out and straight down the other way, through the door to the Bunker Stairs. Once you’re past him go through the door to find a tiny safe room, Bunker 2C and a Pipe Cap. He’s super easy to lure towards you and dodge around, but if you want to kill him I won’t judge you. In here to your left you’ll find the last new enemy of the game, say hello to Hammer.
